Newsletter Issue 83

Hello all,

I hope you’ve come out of Storm Eunice unscathed, dry and with the minimum of damage, if any, to your home and garden.

Thankfully we’ve escaped apart from some disrupted journeys due to fallen trees.

Because of Eunice, the EIBA have allowed us to postpone the Mason’s game until next week. Hopefully the wind will have died down by then but it’s still very blustery in Chedworth at the moment.

The A team played Carterton yesterday in the Wessex when only one rink managed a win so whether they go through to the next stage will all depend on next week’s game against Cotswold A. Fingers crossed.

Sandy has checked the trophy cabinet and found that there are five competitions without a trophy. He is asking if anyone has any suitable glassware that they would like to donate, if so, then please contact him, or reception.

Next Monday 28th February, thirty of us are travelling down to Potters to play in the EBF midweek tournament. The rules are slightly different from our EBA game which we play but very enjoyable nevertheless. Midweek tournaments go on each week from September to the end of March but this particular format is played only during the first week of March at Potters.

We go the first week in March and the first week in October. We join with a group from Nottingham Indoor Bowls Club and play under the name of “NoMid”. If you’d like to know more and fancy a trip, just speak to Howard or me. We always have a great time and it’s all inclusive now.

NB there is no coach so all transport is by car.

Saturday’s quiz was well-supported as usual and a good evening’s entertainment. Steve Bluck stepped in to run the quiz since Norman Hancock is still unwell. We all wish Norman well. It was great to see Barrie Hesling in the audience again and looking so much better. Not only does he look better but he is feeling so much stronger and intends running the next one on 12th March. Welcome back, Barrie.

On Wednesday evening, at 7.00, MidGlos A is playing Bishops Cleeve while

MidGlos B is playing Cheltenham.

On Saturday, MidGlos ladies are playing Cheltenham at 13.00.

If you’re not playing, why not come to spectate?

In the meantime, take care, particularly in this wild weather.

Take care,

Linda.
