Another week gone! Is it just age or is time moving more quickly?

Sadly, we’re approaching the end of our winter bowling. That’s good news, I know, for our outdoor bowlers but it means that we have to say goodbye to a lot of folks for a while.

However, if you’re finding the greens too much of a push or you’re tired of getting soaked or scorched, we bowl indoors throughout the year. Now is the time to give it some thought as captains are beginning to look at their summer teams and any vacancies. Steve Bluck can always accommodate new teams if you feel you’d like to enter any.

The quizzes continue throughout and I’ll keep you posted of any other social events which may be happening.

In the meantime, we’ve still got a lot on! Talking of the quizzes, since they’ve become so popular, we’ve increased the capacity and can now support four more teams than in the past. I hope that this will be sufficient to satisfy the demand. Don’t forget it’s the next quiz on 19th February.

Both the men and the ladies Interclub matches are being played today – the men this morning and the ladies this afternoon. Wessex B team are in action tomorrow (Sunday) morning.

MidGlos A ladies are playing North Wilts on Friday 18th February in the fourth round of the Mason’s and the men’s A team are playing Carterton on 20th.

If you’re still in the internal competitions, well done and keep going. We’re nearing the final stages. It’s getting exciting! Dates to keep free for the finals are 26th March and 3rd April.

Last week I put out a plea for a carpenter. You will have noticed that the internal sliding doors are now working. Hence there is no longer a need to replace the doors with wooden ones. Graham managed to find a firm capable of fixing them and at a reasonable cost. Well done, Graham. He’s also in the process of looking into replacing the “strobe” lighting with much more efficient LED units.

I think that’s about all for now. Just time for a coffee before I get changed to head off to the club to play in the Interclub match against Cheltenham Spa.

Take care,

Linda.
