Newsletter Issue 106

Hello everyone,

It’s been another scorcher this week with more to come! The beauty of indoor bowling is that it’s air-conditioned and very pleasant. We’ve even had members coming in just to sit and watch and have a coffee in comfort rather than be at home sweating.

The new registration packs are now ready for collection at reception. Fees can be paid at any time when the club is open (check on the website if you’re unsure) and, don’t forget that fees are due before you play your first game of the new season which begins on Monday 19th September.

The Bowls Committee, led by Sandy Kerr in this instance, saw the need to update the Bowling Regulations in line with the current EIBA standards. Effective from 1st September 2022 MidGlos will follow such rules.

They will be in the Members’ Section on the website. If you’ve forgotten the password, just enquire at reception.

Alternatively a copy will be filed in the ring binder near the reception desk. Hard copies are available from the office if you would like a copy but don’t have a printer and for those members without Internet access.

It is quite a lengthy document so I would suggest that you do indeed take a hard copy so that you have it to hand in order to familiarise yourself. If we are all “singing from the same hymn sheet”, there should be no confusion (in theory).

Another key document follows, please read it carefully and then decide which method you want to use for your response i.e. electronically via the form below, or via a hard copy available at the club.

Please complete only one response. Finally, please make your response as soon as possible.

Weekend Opening Questionnaire

Dear MidGlos Member

We need your views!  When words like ‘Recession’, ‘Inflation’ and ‘Energy/Cost of Living Crisis’ are becoming more common the Board feels that giving you the maximum value for your membership fees is ever more important. To this end we are considering opening the club to members for weekend bowling during the coming winter.  This would be at no extra cost to members and would not be an additional burden to our valiant volunteer force.  However, before we do so we need to assess how many members would take up this opportunity.  The questionnaire below will give us some idea of take up and enable us to proceed with a more detailed plan.  Please be frank with your answers – this is your club and YOUR chance to have a say in how it’s run.  Thank you.
