Hello again,

Half way through April already and almost a third of the year gone! I’m sure time goes quicker these days. Even youngsters remark on how time flies. But …. everything is starting to burst into life after sleeping for far too long. I love the different fresh greens of Spring. The days are longer, the sun is shining, it’s warmer and it’s finally stopped raining (for now). It’s coming up to GCSEs and A levels so the weather is bound to be good!

On Friday evening it was our Presentation Evening. It was sad to see that not all of the recipients of the different awards were not present. My personal feeling is that, first of all, if I’ve entered a competition, I should support the final and indeed the presentation of the award. Most of us are in leagues and have therefore contributed to the eventual outcome. A lot of work goes into the preparation of these events and I wish they were better supported.

The winner of the Wednesday night Interclub was Cheltenham Town, better known as Suffolk Square.

The runner up was Barnwood and MidGlos came third.

Thank you to all who took part.

Les Howard was the male winner of the Friday morning umbrella while Liz Giles was the lady winner.

Once again Dave Owen came out on top of the Friday evening umbrella.

Well done to all of the umbrella winners.

Again, well done everyone! Poor Fin was up and down like a Jack in the Box! I think we are all in awe of his prowess both indoors and outdoors.

Our next big evening is this Wednesday, 17th April when it is our AGM. Please come along to support and have your say. As I said last week, we do our best to keep the club financially viable but we need more help. This is the last year for some of us. We need new blood to rise to the challenge to take the helm and drive our great club forward into the future for many years to come. We are in the enviable position of owing no debt! Onwards and upwards!

As always, take care,

Linda

Linda Watkin-Jones.

Director (PR & Marketing).

PS If you have nothing to do on Saturday, then you could fill your afternoon by listening to our chairman, Howard, as he is being interviewed by Manchester FM for two hours … on the Hannah’s Bookshelf programme!

Apologies that I can not attend the AGM. It is my wife’s birthday and we are out for a meal.
