Newsletter Issue 170

Hello again,

I think you all know that I write this on Sunday so, at the moment, I’m thinking of our young under18s who are in Northampton playing in England trials. When I hear how they’ve done, I’ll post it here.

For some considerable time, there has been great confusion over National rink fees. The co-ordinator for our area has finally come back to us with a suggestion that each club votes on a choice of two proposals. He will then go with the majority decision and announce it on Tuesday, 21st November. So, at last, we will all be “singing from the same hymn sheet”. Again, I’ll announce the outcome in the next newsletter.

We had a very good, well-supported quiz again last evening hosted by Steve Bluck. One of our regular quizmasters was unable to attend due to illness. We wish Norman (Hancock) well and hope to see him back at the club soon.

MidGlos maintained their high standard during the friendly away against Welford winning 82/53. Well done.

Whoever borrowed a men’s XL shirt from the samples rail, could you please return it? Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who’s purchased one of Howard’s books. The sales are going really well. Although it’s a children’s fantasy adventure, adults are enjoying it too. He was on Cotswold Radio on Saturday morning Culture Club 10.00 until 11.00. If you’d like to listen to it, you can get it on the Internet on catchup and it’s repeated next Saturday. The pressure is on now for the sequel!

This coming Friday morning, the first round of the Mason Trophy is being played against Malvern, home and away. On Saturday morning, the next round of the Interclub is being played against Cheltenham Town while Barnwood is playing Cheltenham Spa. MidGlos is playing Newport at home in a friendly on Sunday afternoon.

That’s all for now.

Take care,

Linda

Hi Linda I thought you may be intereted with my team Grasshopers. Last year we managed to manage to get 3 points for the whole of the Winter Season. On Monday this week we played Rebels for our 10th match and much to our amazement we managed a victory 22 – 12. We are now looking forward to the next match now that we have the taste of a victory in our blood.

Bob Knight
