Newsletter Issue 148

Hello again,

Despite only five people baking cakes (not just one each, I might add), we had plenty!

The turnout for the open day was very disappointing. I suspect that the glorious weather was against us in that most people probably wanted to soak up the sun. We advertised via posters, hand-delivered handouts, Radio Gloucester and Facebook but, as I said the attendance was disappointing. However, we now have four very positive prospective members who have already signed up for the quiz next week and a possible three more interested. So it was worth doing in the end.

A huge thank you to all the members who turned up in force to help. We all had a lovely friendly chat in the lounge while waiting for the visitors. It was noted that the atmosphere was so lovely. We wish more of you would stay for a coffee and chat after your game rather than rushing off.

Those of you who’ve been to the club since Thursday will have seen the massive improvement to the car park. We now have bright shiny lines marking out the parking bays. This job has long needed doing and should make parking much easier. As I said last week – no excuse for sloppy parking now!

The next quiz this Saturday will be run by Sheila Kingswell. Just a reminder that the price has increased to £6.00 – still very good value for an enjoyable evening out spent with friends.

Our next social event will be on Tuesday, 4th July at 2.00p.m. when there will be an opportunity to learn all about The Cotswold Perfumery in Bourton on the Water. Our late queen always wore one of the fragrances from this perfumery but don’t be put off by that fact – the prices are very reasonable. You will have a chance to sample the range but not purchase. Tea or coffee and cake will included in the ticket price of just £5.00. A notice will go up shortly for you to sign up so that we have an indication of numbers. If you’re not able to come in to sign, just ring reception and your name will be added.

Enjoy the beautiful weather and take care,

Linda

Hi Linda I think maybe we were having the open day at the wrong time of year during the early part of the outdoor season, its just a thought regards John
