Newsletter Issue 145

Hello,

Apologies for being a day late with the newsletter but I had a rather hectic week-end singing. I was singing in Gloucester Cathedral with members from my choir on Saturday morning during the Floral Festival. On Sunday, I was at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern where we did three three-quarter hour performances. It was a long day at the end of which, by the time I got home, I was too tired to write the newsletter.

Sadly, I have to report the death of a former member, Peter Joyner who died on Monday, 24th April. His funeral will be on 2nd June at 2.00p.m. at St. Phillip’s & St. James’s, Grafton Road, Leckhampton. I didn’t know him but I believe he was on the Board of Directors for a while. Our condolences to his family.

This Friday, 19th May is the next 200 Club draw when the snowball will be worth £150.00. Unfortunately, we are away for a long week-end so won’t be able to attend. It will be just our luck for our numbers to come up!

On Saturday, 20th May, it is the next quiz run by Steve and Tricia. We are currently running at a loss due to the substantial increase in food prices. Starting in June, the price for the quiz will increase from £5.00 to £6.00 to reflect this. I’m afraid we have no option but to increase the price but we’ve kept it as low as possible for as long as possible.

This is the final reminder for entries to the National Indoor Competitions 2023/2024. The closing date is this Monday, 22nd May. If you haven’t already done so, get your entries in now.

Posters and flyers for the open day on 10th June are now available at reception. If you are able to place a poster somewhere, please pick one up. We are asking that members post flyers in their local area, please. We don’t expect you to hike long distances but, if you could just pop through neighbours’ houses in your road, that would be brilliant. Nearer the time, we are hoping that Mark Cummings on Radio Gloucester will promote us🤞

Again, nearer the time, I will be asking for offers of homemade cakes and volunteers on the day for various jobs. Just make sure that the date is in your diary and please spread the word.

Many thanks.

In the meantime, take care and stay healthy,

Linda

If Food costs are so high, why provide?? seems pointless
Biscuits and a cake would be quite sufficient if you had to provide anything ….. people can always bring their own snacks!
