Hello everyone,

Thankfully there are no deaths to announce this week but it is both Barrie Hesling’s funeral at midday on Tuesday and Steve Pope’s at 11.00 a.m. on Thursday.

The Area Final of the Mixed Pairs between Malvern and North Wilts proved to be a very exciting game on Friday evening with the young Malvern couple eventually winning. They will now go on to play the National Final at St. Neots in Cambridgeshire.

The first round of both the men’s and ladies’ interclub took place on Saturday. The men’s was a very close run thing with Barnwood beating MidGlos by just one shot and Cheltenham beating Cheltenham Spa by just one shot.

In the ladies’ matches, Barnwood beat Caer Glow by one shot while MidGlos beat Cheltenham by quite a few more. The ladies don’t play again until 25th but the men are playing on the next two Saturdays, I believe. It has had to be rescheduled because of The Denny Plate which is being played next Saturday at Loddon Green against Isle of Wight.

On 11th February, please note that bacon baps will not be served but teas and coffees will still be available.

Both Wessex A and B teams were in action on Sunday morning. The A team were against Carterton while the B team played Chipping Norton. Our A team won but our B team came second. Well- played everyone.

In the afternoon immediately after the Wessex games, MidGlos was playing Welford in a friendly. I’ll update you with the result next week.

There are a number of notices around the bowling hall about the use of GRIPPO and the like.

GRIPPO and the like are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN! When the carpet was replaced it cost £38,000.00!

The use of such products outdoors is fine but indoors you must use a glove or a damp towel instead. I have smelled Grippo recently but didn’t see who was using it. Please look after our very expensive carpet!

It’s the monthly quiz on Saturday, 11th. If you’ve put your names down, I’ll see you there.

In the meantime, please take care,

Linda
