Newsletter Issue 88

Hello everyone,

I hope you all remembered to alter your clocks. It comes as a surprise to my elder daughter every time we either spring forward or fall back. How she manages to miss all the reminders I’ll never know!

Kath sent me a photo of a Tile which must belong to somebody – it’s been in Kath’s safekeeping for quite a while. Dinosaur that I am, I had to ask her what it was! I guess if it’s yours you’ll know what it is. If you’ve mislaid it, please claim it at reception.

There are rather a lot of outstanding games yet to be played. It has been tricky this season with so many people suddenly testing positive for Covid – this has accounted for the majority of unplayed games. However, they do need to be played. Time is ticking on at a rapid rate towards the end of the season. If you are captain of any of these teams, please try to get a team together to get them played.

If you have already played your outstanding game(s), please inform the office so that the records can be updated.

I have to inform you that some of the bar prices will fluctuate in the future. We are now having the bottles and cans delivered by a company which offers a delivery service so cutting down the time and miles spent by Graham and Jill Whiting. However, dependent on where they source the products, the prices may fluctuate.

As you know the first of the finals days went ahead on Saturday. Thank you to those of you who came to support. Other finals matches have already been played and some will take place after the next finals day, 3rd April. The ladies’ pairs will now be on Friday, 8th April starting at 9.30 due to a clash of timings and the date for the men’s’ pairs is yet to be announced since one of the players is still testing positive.

I will announce all the winners of the various competitions when all of the finals have been completed. Don’t forget that the presentation evening is on 20th April when the bar will be open and I believe there will be a free buffet.

Prior to that, of course, is the AGM on 13th at 7pm. Don’t forget. However, if you can’t make it for any reason, there are other ways to vote. These are all detailed in your pack.

In the meantime,

Take care,

Linda.
