Hello everybody,

If you were in the club this morning, you will have seen me in a different role! My Mrs. Mop role! Mark is off ill so members of the Board are “mucking in” or “out” would be more to the point!

If anyone else fancies a turn, you’d be more than welcome – just give your name in at reception.

While on the subject of reception and office duties, there is now a gap on a Thursday afternoon 3.30-6.00. Sheila is covering at the moment but, if she takes on anything else, she’ll need a bed at the club. If you feel you could spare the time, please get in touch with the office.

If this position is not filled, we will have to close the club for those hours. It is not an onerous role but it is usually quite quiet so bring along your book, laptop, the newspaper, a magazine, your knitting, or anything else to occupy your time.

Congratulations to our Denny team who played the first match against Clarrie Dunbar last Saturday morning. It was a nail-biting match which ended with a win for us 74/73! That is an absolutely brilliant result since Clarrie Dunbar have a very strong team.

Our men go on to play Bristol in the next round on Saturday, 6th November and, on Sunday 7th, in the Wessex tournament, the MidGlos A team plays the MidGlos B team. Support is always welcome.

Last night in the Wednesday night Interclub, MidGlos B team played Cheltenham Spa concluding in a good win for MidGlos. It’s the turn of the A team next week and they too will play Cheltenham Spa.

During the game last night, I picked up several bits of grit which were on the green on Rink 3.

Please do not step onto the carpet in outdoor shoes. Please do not walk from your car in your rink shoes – this is how grit gets transferred onto the carpet.

Indeed, I feel that outdoor bowlers should either have a different pair for indoors or make sure that the undersides are clean and grit/soil-free.

Some good news for four lucky folks. This month’s 200 Club winners are:
1st prize of £50.00 – Pam Margrett
2nd prize of £20.00 – Joan Hedworth
3rd prize of £10.00 – Angela Holbrook
Snowball – £50.00 – Robin Attwood.

Well done.

I really hope that Mark is better soon so that I don’t have to be Mrs. Mop for much longer.

Take care,
Linda.
