Newsletter Issue 50

Hello everyone,

14th June is almost here when we should know if the final restrictions are to be lifted. I suspect not all of them will be!

I have already mentioned that, on Sunday, 4th July we are offering our car parks, providing refreshments and making our toilet facilities available for the visitors to the local open gardens around in support of the National Garden Scheme.

If you intend to visit the gardens and partake of the refreshments, cash only, please.

Prior to this event, we need a clean-up to the outside of the club. The shutters and windows need “de-spiders webbing” and washing. The date for this is 30th June at 10am when we will need a work party complete with your own buckets, soft brushes and cloths, please. Volunteers to Kath, please. These work parties are usually quite fun to do since there’s usually a lot of banter and bonding and, of course, the satisfaction of looking back at the difference you have made!

Again, prior to the day, we need the offer of cakes and plants since there will be a plant stall as well. Please, if you can provide a cake, let Kath know and, if you have any surplus plants, Pam is the contact.

As you can see in the poster, the event runs from 2pm until 5pm. We will need to set up and man the stalls from 12 noon until just after 5pm.

We are again looking for volunteers to offer a minimum of an hour to help. If you would like a specific time, please specify. Equally, if you are happy to be slotted in anywhere, please say. Obviously, we will publish who’s doing what and when. The more volunteers we get, the easier it will be for everyone. All of the proceeds of the refreshments and plants are ours to go into club funds.

Incidentally, this was all agreed before the present Board took over and should have taken place last year but had to be postponed because of Covid.

From 1st July, there will be a limit set of £4 minimum spend on a bank card used at the club. The reason for this is, like all retail establishments, we are charged a fee each time a debit or credit card is used.

There’s been a lot to take in in this newsletter. Please re-read it and please help if you can.

Many thanks.

Take care,

Linda.
